Diverticulitis

The most common place in the body for this complaint to occur is in the colon. Even so it can occur anywhere along the digestive tract from the oesophagus (the gullet, the canal by which food passes to the stomach) to the colon.

Diverticulita are small thin-walled pouches opening from the hollow organ. A person with these little pockets has diverticulosis but may never know because they never cause any symptoms. As an estimate 10% of people 40 years of age or over has diverticulosis. (Diverticulosis occurs when small, bulging pouches (diverticula) develop in your digestive tract. When one or more of these pouches become inflamed or infected, the condition is called diverticulitis).

The chances increase with advancing age of these existing pockets becoming infected, inflamed, or ruptured resulting in diverticulitis. The symptoms of which are so much like appendicitis that some refer to it as the left sided appendicitis, the exception is the reversal of sides.

FACTS ABOUT DIVERTICULITIS

The opinion at the time of writing is that the low residue diet of the western world is the cause of diverticulitis. In countries where the diet is of a high residue one of whole, natural, unrefined, bulk foods’ disease is hardly ever a problem. fat (obese) older people are more susceptible to diverticulitis. Therefore, it is necessary for weight watching.

Follow the health diet as it is of a high residue nature. When you use the health diet, you should never have any trouble through constipation, which can accompany the condition.

Daily Supplements (Recommended)
Vitamin F 5 capsules or 2 tablespoons of cold pressed vegetable oils
Flax Seed  

As directed

 

Folic Acid  

1 mg

 

Garlic  

3 capsules or as much fresh garlic or garlic salt as you like.

 

Natural Multi Vitamins  

Take as prescribed by the manufacturer.

 

Onions  

Eaten any way you want, fresh or boiled etc.,

 

Whey Powder  

Tablets as directed or 1 tablespoon with every meal.
